Current Song Obsessions
When I hear good music I really just want to spread the word, since I love all things pop culture, not just TV and movies, I’ve decided to add a weekly playlist of my favorite songs of the moment. And since most these are new up and coming artists, I just had to give them my seal of approval. Give em a try. Let me know what you think. I found them all easily on iTunes, as I have gotten too old to be stealing songs illegally. Man, I’m getting old.
Two Weeks- Grizzly Bear
Can anyone say New Moon Soundtrack? Cause this one is a contender. I love the beautiful melody that floats through the song; it reminds me of early Beach Boys. Download it onto your mp3 player and listen to it in the car. Blast it. Just forgive the video, because…yes…it’s a little creepy.
So Alive- Better than Ezra’s Tribute to Love & Rockets
tried to find it online, but you’ll have to download it yourself because it decided to be very elusive. Not fair, because I really wanted to put the video on this list. But trust me; it’s addictive and well done.
Percussion Gun- White Rabbits
This song couldn’t be better named. The drums, the snarling vocals, the video that gets your head bobbing. Hell yeah. Every time I listen to it, I like it just a bit more.
She loves Everybody- Chester French
I’m hoping this indie pop rock duo is the next big thing. While the video doesn’t do much for me, except for tell that guy to stop letting that girl kick the crap out of him, the beat and the lyrics will hook you. I couldn't embed it from Youtube.com, so you can follow this link to the video. Somebody call my baby…. somebody call her up real quick…I think I need my fix….
You can find it here
Dance with Somebody- Mando Diao
Obviously, he’s intense about dancing with somebody. Luckily, I enjoy his passion. And the throwback 60’s beat. I wonder if this Swedish band will blow up stateside? I hope so, because I love the raspy quality of his voice. And the hook gets stuck in your head and won’t leave.
Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?- She & Him
The song has been out for a while, but I put it on this list for my love of the new video that just came out with Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon Levitt from the 500 Days of Summer movie they are co-staring together in. I've known since Elf what an amazing voice Zooey has, but I was thoroughly charmed by Joseph Gordon Levitt in the video, who knew he could dance? This one is for the ladies.
* Just to be clear, I do NOT own any of this music
