True Blood Recap: Never Let me go
Or
But this is Dallas Baby!

Caution! Spoilers Below!!
True Blood

We open with the yawn inducing relationship of Daphne and Sam. Daphne reveals herself to be a shapeshifter. I think her stripper name would be Bambi. Sam is blown away and they spend the whole episode flirting and using double entendres. There is something about their relationship that I don't particularly care about. I haven't quite put my finger on it yet, but I'm sure in time it will reveal itself. But in the meantime, Sam's hair is growing out into adorable/disturbing teen hottie length. Seriously, any more length on that hair and he's going to wind up on the cover of Tiger Beat.

Bon Temps and the saga of Tara takes a backseat to the action going on in Dallas. At Hotel Camilla, Sookie tries to sweet talk Barry the telepathic bellboy into being her new best friend. Thoroughly upset and rude, Barry tells her to leave him alone, that vampires are effing scary and would kill him if they knew what he could do. Sookie, being Sookie completely disregards his perfectly good advice and spends the episode pestering him throughout the hotel to be her BTFF (Best Telepath Friend Forever). Seriously. Sookie seems to be throwing all caution to the wind and embracing her special power. She's also become more spicy, sassing back any vampire no matter how powerful. Jessica meanwhile spends her time on the phone with Hoyt, who adorably reads her his comic books. "Wanna watch tv together long distance?" he suggests, YES, yes Hoyt! I've totally done that! It marks the first time watching tv together long distance was charming and romantic.

Sookie, Bill and Eric visit the missing Godric's lieutenants Stan and Isabel. Stan is in a word, awesome. With a thick southern accent and a perchant for cowboy hats, Stan just wants to kill all the Fellowship of the Sun followers in retaliation. Basically, all the vampires do is snipe at each other and disagree on a course of action while Eric shouts that they are idiots. Until Sookie offers to infiltrate the Fellowship as a prospective member and read minds in order to locate Godric. Bill is of course, against the plan, since it will happen during the day and he'll be sleeping. But Eric backs her up and reveals to Bill that Godric is his maker.

We get a great flashback to Eric the Viking as a human, who was so beloved by his men, that they refuse to leave his side as he's dying and instead build him a funeral pyre and place him on it while he is still alive. Before they can light the pyre, they are killed by a pint sized vampire who looks like a 15 year old boy, who appears to have noticed Eric's general pre-vampire awesomeness and the following is the cliffnotes of their conversation.

Eric- You killed my men, I would kill you if I could.
Godric- You are beautiful and fight like no man, I must have you
Eric- ok.

Men, women, LaFayette, everyone loves Eric. It's only a matter of time before Bill's stodginess and boringness causes Sookie to look his beautiful blond way. Oh, and the man can rock a black leather jacket like nobody's business. I only wish he would be less serious and have more of book Eric's sense of humor.

Meanwhile, Jason Stackhouse is getting into deeper trouble. Jason is always a marvelous suprise. While he's obviously not that smart, Jason is a natural born leader. Just give the man some purpose. Boot camp begins and he manages to prove his leadership abilities by helping the Lukinator conquer a fence. Meanwhile we begin to see the cracks in the Newlin's marriage, it seems that big guns do more for Steve then Sarah does and he constantly undermines her authority. Naturally it drives Sarah into giving Jason a little manual stimulation in the bathtub because 'God wants him to have a reward". Ryan Kwanten deserves an Emmy nod for this role. He manages to outshine Tara and Sam's respective story lines and is becoming the LaFayette of this season.

Back at Merlotte's, LaFayette comes back for his job, and a little less sassy then normal (apparently Sookie took it all) and refuses to tell a curious Sam where all his mojo went. Tara awakes at the Stackhouse homestead with Mariann, Eggs and the weird bald servant guy, who move in. Shocked at her presumptuousness, Tara informs her that it isn't her house and she needs to leave. In retaliation, Mariann casts a spell on the waitstaff from the parking lot of Merlottes to turn everyone against Tara. Shouting, blaming and a few middle fingers Tara's direction later, Tara is fed up and leaves. In a truly bizzaro move, Marianne is awaiting her at home, dressed as GRAN, reading a romance novel. What I truly loved about this show is Tara's fondest dream was that she got to be an honorary Stackhouse. She wanted the stability that Adele Stackhouse could provide, she wanted to be with Jason last season. She would love to be Sookie's sister in law. Now, she's living in Sookie's house, only Sookie isn't there, none of the Stackhouses are. All that's left is an empty house filled with pretenders. Marianne trying to pretend to be what Tara needs. Eggs, is pretending to be good for her, but keeps making bonehead decisions and then blaming her and her effed up childhood for her completely valid feelings and creating her self doubt. Finally Tara breaks down and allows Marianne to stay at the house. Ha! Wait till Sookie gets home!

This show is delicious.
